Joseph Darvas, the noted writer, who was installed on February 21 as the new Inspector ox the Bánya Eynod :f the Hungarian Lutheran Church, has been recently elected by the Presidential Council of the Hungarian People's republic to the office of the Minister of x^eligious Affairs and Public Education. This fact adds new significance to the following discourse which, in the course of his installation to the Inspector's office, he addressed to the meeting of the Bánya bynod. It is also to be noted that this is the first time in Hungary that the Ministry of Religious affairs and Bublic Education is headed by a Protestant.

I am grateful for and honoured by the confidence which has called me to the service of the Inspector in the Lánya bynod.
