Hungarian Reformed Ministers . . 10 I WAS LIBERATED On the fifth anniversary ef Hungary's liberation, representatives ef Hungarian Protestantism have yublished a book commemorating this event. We publish herewith the introduction to this book by Bishep Albert Bereczky, In this little book we are trying to give an ae*ount of the last five years ef Hungarian Protestantism. This book is meant to be a testimony,-expressing our fundamental conviction that we are indebted to God for having given us, Evangelical Christians of Hungary, out of His unmerited grace, a five years' period of service of which we may and we must "glory in the Lord"# It is the spirit of such thankfulness that should pervade the testimony ef this book . Although I have not read yet the manuscripts, I am sure that the greater part of the papers will be composed in a factual manner. A testimony must be based en facts; and rne cannot argue against facts. The testimony of Christians points to one great fact, to Jesus Christ, in His love and power, as He is manifested in the actual life of real people. The Evangelical ghurches of Hungary will now bear witness to this fundamental fact, the love and power of Jesus Christ, in such a manner that they will confess, with thanksgiving, to those facts which they have received and experienced while undergoing the greatest change of their destiny and history. In contrast to this factual and objective nature of most of the following writings, I want to be now quite personal. It is also facts that I am going to speak about, but facts as they have been mirrored in my personal experience. You may regard this writing as a piece of my "theological autobiography" which I may never write. I want to give account of a personal experience undergone five years ago which I msy honestly and in faith sum up thus: £ was liberated.
