PAUL PODMANICZKY D.D., PROFESSOR ON THE LUTHERAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY IN SOPRON The Hungarian Lutheran Church is in deep mourning: one of its most devoted sons, the professor of the Theological Faculty, the Rev. Paul Podmaniczky D.D>. was called home at the age of 65. He was one of the leaders of the latest Hungarian evangelical revival. Genuine living faith and a most up-to-date theological knowledge were coupled in him. He was baron, but there was no trace of aristocratical pride in him. Already in his early youth he became a qualified joiner and used to speak with a radiant faith of the blessings of manual work. Philosophy, religious philosophy and missionary sciences belonged to his subjects. He was also one of the founders and editors of the foreign missionary periodical "A Hajnal" /The dawn/. He was buried in Sopron^ where he lived and where over the entrance of his house the following inscription can be read: "This is merely my earthly abode, an eternal home is prepared for me above". NE17 LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY PASTOR The Hungarian General Lutheran Church appointed Ladaislaus Benczúr D.D. teacher of religion to University pastor and director of the Martin Luther Missionary Training Institute for layworkers. Rev. Benczúr D.D. spent a longer time in the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey.
