While sending us senseless advices to resist, they, at the mere news of the approach of the communists give up their positions, evacuating liberated China. let it would be good, if they stayed in liberated China to see for themselves tings Y/e know already, all countrary to Nazi propaganda that predicted devastation after the liberation. But there is still another contradiction. While they abandoned China without any missionary attempt "China occupied by Communists", - thus justifying the assertions of nazi propaganda - they greet the members of the Hungarian Lutheran Church living in exile, approving of their attitude to have denied community with a State of which they gained experiences already during the nazi regime. But who are these Lutherans living in exile? The Norwegian pastors ought to knov/ it but too well, that none of the members or leaders of the Hungarian Lutheran Church is in exile owing to their dissension with the People's Democracy out of feligious reasons. Just the contraray, those living now in the West are the self same who, having bowed their knees to Hitler's názis now sharing their fate came into exile. And now Norwegian Lutherans, referring to their experiences gathered during the nazi regime, express their sympathy and understanding to the Hungarian nazis and their collaborators. It is no more contradiction, but gross disclosure of that propaganda campaign to which the Norwegian Church yielded itself. It is an inconsistency to principles, which just the Norwegians ought to be the last to display. To our mind, if tho Norwegians consider the order developped and developing in the Bast as godless, it is one reason more to sit tight in China, and one reason more to hail those who for instance in Hungary continue to proclaim the Gospel. It is also a lesson, that those who referring to experiences gained while resisting nazis, hail nazis in exile, could be no partners to discuss ideological questions, and still less capable to grasp why Hungarian Protestantism sees it possible to serve on. But the final, conclusion is the most essential. And it may mean something also here. He who is reactionary in politics, will lose both, his missionary calling and missionary possibilities. The Hungarian Lutheran pastors are unable to hail the Norwegian Mission abandoning China, The Hungarian Lutheran pastors do not v/nnt to abandon the harvest field received from God, and last but not least they do not want to miss the kingdom of God.
