íío 8. Political advent ism - he writes - expected its self-made salvation from the wonder-arms of Hitler at the end of the war, and since is expecting it from the atomic bomb» Somewhere the atomic bomb will be dropped, all the "wicked" will perish, and we the "good" will survive and regain "everything". Recently political adventism is busy with the exposition of the Bible. Did jrou happen to read already the 25th chapter of Leviticus? Dis you read the 8, 9, 10 verses? We have to count but seven times seven years. That makes 49. Then the tenth day of the seventh month. That is July 10 1949. Something is bound to happen then. Watch. Trumpets will sound, they say mysteriously winking with an eye. And in the 50th year the huge estates will be returned to everybody. Do you understand? Of course, 1 see. The pi’ophecies of Jesus are likewise fulfilled on this generation: "because they seeing see not. and hearing they hear not". /Matthew 13:13./ The words of uho Apostle Paul come back to my mind: "Por the time will come when they will not ondure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall bo turned into fables." /II,Timothy 4:3,4./ The truth is, that in the 25th chapter just mentioned it deals about tie fact that, according to the mosaic laws, every seventh year is a holy year when the soil must rest and in every seven times seven years that is in every 49th year the trumpets must sound and the division of properties among the people of Israel cnanged. Those who owing to good luck or cleverness became rich, had to return the land to the community organised on tribal principles. Debts were cancelled and every Israelitic slave regained freedom. In these economical regulations we can see a primitive but worthy endeavour to prevent the accumulation of fortune by individuals. Grounds were in the administration o^ tribes and families. Nobody can purchase grounds from another for good, it can merelj^be leased for 49 years and then return it without an?/ compensation. Iv is obvious even here tha.t the Bible does not Tn.ow the notion of private property. Dor the earth belongs to the Lord! Man can be no more than a steward of the goods placed into his charge. In Leviticus chapter 25 it deals about the social realisation of stewardship. The problem is how to lead by means of the Bible the man of to-day to a sober pure faith to free him from his myths, nightmares and illusions.
