Abstract: The changes in the physico-chemical parameters, as well as in the species composition of the organisms inhabiting the lakes and rivers of Hungary have become evident in the early 1960's already. The change is attributable overwhelmingly to eutrophication processes which have raised major problems in connection with the larges laké of Hungary, too. A computer analysis is presented on the oligotrophic bacteria population in one ofthe slightly polluted parts of Laké Balaton, the Füred Bay. The results demonstrate positively the differences in the species composition of the bacterioplankton populations in the spring and summer seasons, implying alsó that parallel to the higher nutrient load in summer and the more vigorous primary production induced thereby, the facultative anaerobic bacteria genera and species capable of thriving on a broader spectrum of carbon sources prolificate and become predominant.
