1. szám - Dr. Öllős Géza: A 2. Vízminőségi és Víztechnológiai Kongresszus összefoglalása

62 Hidrológiai Közlöny 1971. 1. sz. Special Conference Number, Szebellédy, L. data, but their reliability and representative character which is of decisive importance when adopting them as the starting basis of investigations. In this respect the situation is in many instances still uncleared. Thus for instance it is essential to establish a deterministic relationship between sampling from a body of surface water and the flow conditions prevailing therein. The choice of sampling intervals, representative and critical times, etc., raise problems indicating the necessitv of establishing a sound theoretical foundation for the retrieval of samples. This problem must not be neglected, otherwise the collection of data may become very expensive with costs out of proportion to the realistic value of the data. The quality of work based on poor sampling practicies is bound to be inferior. 12. The proceedings reflected the spreading use of mathematical statistics. This fact is believed to be of decisive importance for the future of this branch of science. The popularity of computers and the positive attitűdé of young engineers graduating from the educational institutions towards mechanical computation may be regarded as promising, permitting in numerous instances faster data processing, the considerable increase of parameters, the more reliable development of relationships and the better understanding of the substance of processes. In this manner increased opportunities are offered for the introduction of new theories and the development of a növel type of approach in generál. 1-í. It has alsó been demonstrated positi velv that there is a growing demand for international cooperation among the experts engaged in this field. The exchange of experience, the rational organisation of research will result in a higher rate of development. Hungárián experts are willing to cooperate in establishing any relationship aiming at the solution of problems encountered in this field and promoting the case of water supply. * * * The suggestions and ideas expounded in the — papers, — generál reports and — discussions at the Conference will be utilized extensivelv in future work by the organizing agencies. Concluding with these ideas the final evaluation we may trust that the Conference was useful for all participants. Participants of the Conference
