Academy of Sciences In his introduction author calls attention to tho reasons, on account of which the development of water power utilization has been furthered or provont­ed in the last decades. At the same time he points out, tliat the hitches ensued in this development have been provoked not only by objective causes, but here and there by inconsiderate opinions too, as a result of which an incorrect judgement on the development of energv economics could form. In order to come to the right eonelusion, as regards the development and present state of hydraulic power utilization it is necessary to know the power resources of Europe (Table 1.), as well as the correct interpre­tation thereof. For this evaluation one must know, how the water power resources of Europe relate to those of other continents (Table 2.). It is advisable to give the water power resources not only in kilowatts, but alsó in kilowatthours, as therefrom the degree of utilization can be deduced the best of all, if taken into condiseration the energy actu­ally produced by the existing power stations. The comparison should be meant for the energy resources to be utilized (Table 3.). While explaining the Table 4., author points to the interpretation of hydraulicity, further to the fact, how the formation of statistical ranges is influenced by hydraulicity (Table 4.).
