SUMMARY FÜGGELÉK porary structures (Sió railway bridge at Siófok, Sió-bridge at Siójut) or relatively laté (Dráva highway bridge at Barcs in 1969), eventually it has not been done at all (Dráva railway bridge at Barcs). The Sió railway bridge at Siójut can be considered as an interesting reconstruction example where the structure of Duna-branch bridge at Újpest originally built in 1896 was utilized in 1957. From 1950 on, already up-to-date techniques (precasting, prestressing) have been utilized. In Kaposvár, three Kapos-bridges with 25-28 m spans were built between 1956 and 1960, where alsó the feasible prestressing and poststressing techniques were trialled or applied. This experimentál work became of major importance later on, mainly in the application of Freyssinet stressing system. The modernisation of small bridges started in 1955. The typical superstructure type is the so-called reverse T-beam (FT); there are 114 of them in the county. For spans above 10 m, EHGE (precast bridge girder) structures have been applied since 1976: bridges above railway in Balatonszentgyörgy, Kaposvár and other major bridges. Among the steel and steel-concrete composile bridges the Dráva-bridge with stressed reinforced concrete structure at Barcs and the Sió-bridge with double reinforced concrete chord and precast slab at Siófok (44 m span) are worthwhile to mention. In Kaposvár, major road rehabilitation works started in 1977. In 2000-2003, 16 bridges were built on a 19 km long section of Kaposvár bypass of main road 61, bridges with precast bridge girder (FCI-beams) and highdiameter (6 m) corrugated steel plate were made, as well as a railway bridge. The motorway construction reached the county in 1971 (half motorway to Zamárdi). In 2003, the motorway construction eonlinued. 77 new bridges wül be built, among others, a bridge of 266 m longth and the 1768 m long Kőröshegy-viaduct with 80 m pillar height which will held multiple records among the Hungárián bridges. The national highway network of the county has 325 bridges, 85 % of them with reinforced concrete structures. The munieipalities manage 298 bridges, this bridge stock can be characterised by many pedestrian bridges (31 %) and timber bridges of low bearing capacity (110). There are 115 railway bridges of which 19 have spans above 10 m. The number of forestry bridges and those managed by other managers is relatively high. This publication, as a part of a series presents the bridges of the county with a lot of pictures (photos) with relevant references (souree-books). Its main chapters: geographical features, development of the highway network in the county, timber, irón, steel and reinforced concrete bridges, reconstruction of bridges, the bridges of national highways, of municipal (local) roads, railway bridges. Somé bridges (Sió-, Dráva-, Kapos-bridges, structures above railways and other major bridges) are introduced individually. In appendices, maps, registers, bridge sheets, archivál documents and other reports can be found in the book. A chronological survey, the list of designers and contractors, supplementary literature and summary conclude the publication. Mr. Bence Hajós, bridge engineer had a decisive role in the writing of the book. Mr. László Szabó, museologist and Mr. József Szilágyi, forestry engineer completed a chapfer each. Dr. Ernő Tóth wrote several chapters and acted as the editor of the publication. Dr. Herbert Tráger, retired ministerial chief counsellor was the publisher's reader and completed the summary in Germán. The translation of the summary to English was done by Dr. László Gáspár. ín the completion of the book, several designers, contractors, museums, archives and researchers rendered a great help by making source-books and illustrations available. Thanks for their valuable contribution. The book is published for the 46 th Bridge Engineering Conference. 164
