KOSZONTO • GRUSSWORT • GREETINGS Dear Friends of Music, INTERKULTUR invited all of you to Eger this time to a music festival. We are exceedingly happy to see that this once again many groups accepted our invitation from all around the would. During the days to come not only the long awaited festival itself, but human encounters will play a very important role. One of the chief goal if INTERKULTUR is to serve the cause of understanding between nation. This is the only real basis, on which we may build a family of nations, let them be in Asia, Europe, Africa, America or the Middle East in particular. Seeing the great number of young participants at this festival fills one with optimism. This is already the 29th event of our 10 year old festival and competition series in Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy and Israel, where quality has always been determined by youth ensembles. Thus we dare say that these ensembles have accumulated an enormous amount of artistic knowledge, which sheds a different light on the often guoted problem of replacement. Thanks to such events as the festival in Eger singers and musicians - mainly ensembles of young people - will carry the notion of understanding and friendship between the peoples of the Earth and consciously or sub-consciously they will go on working in this spirit. This is how tolerance is born to will bring down those barricades of intellect built by people driven by national egoism. I would hereby like to express my gratitude to the City of Eger, the main supporter of our festival and to all those, who contributed to the organisation of this event, particularly to those that have been working modestly in the background and without the help of whom the realisation of this festival would have been impossible. Let me welcome all the participants, guests of the festival and all friends of choral and instrumental music in the ever growing circle of our friends of the Musica Mundi festival series. 7
