Summary: This is an original play based on the Hungarian folk tale "Az Égigerő Paszuly." It's a surreal and offbeat tale of John, a simple Swineherd, who promises the King that he will climb the "magic-apple-tree-that-only-has-apples-once-every-thousand- years" in order to get a magic apple to restore the King's health. At the top of the tree he quickly falls in love with the beautiful princess Etelka and, just as swiftly, loses her to the dragon. Regaining his lost love entails making the jome of an old woman who has on her farm the only horse swift enough to rescue Etelka. The story is narrated by two archetypical old village women.
