Sir Patrick Spens a Scottish Ballad Jobbágyi Általános Iskola Summary: The story is very simple but romantic and adventurous. Once upon a winter morning the king of Scotland decides to marry a Norwegian princess. Sir Patrick Spen's rivals have convinced the king that only Sir Patrick is capable of making the dangerous journey to Norway to ask for the hand of the princess. The winter voyage is equal to certain death. Fortunately, he arrives in Norway and the Norwegian king accepts the offer of marriage for his daughter. There is a celebration before the departure back to Scotland. Following provocations by some Norwegian lords, Sir Spen decides to chance a return trip in spite of bad weather. They get into a terrible storm and his good men fight heroically against the elements, but in the end they are drowned in the sea at Aberdour.
