Hair r Adapted from the film by Teplán Agnes Gagarin Általános Iskola, Salgótarján Summary.* The play is set in New York and Nevada during the 1960’s and begins with a prologue. George Berger, a hippy, commits his call-up papers to the flames. Scene One: In the park the hippies dance and sing about peace and love, sympathy and understanding. They live their happy and free life in their community. Clause Bukowski arrives in New York. He has only a couple of days there, because he has to join the army. He meets George Berger and his friends. The hippies try to help him to spend this short time as pleasantly as possible. Scene Two: The hippies take Claude to a party, because Claude has fallen in love with a girl called Sheila, who is there too. They look very strange among the well-dressed guests. Mr. Wright, the host of the party' tries to throw them out. He calls the police. Scene Three: Sheila meets Claude at the lake in the park. The hippies leave them alone. They start talking. Sheila doesn't want Claude to take her home. She runs away. Scene Four: Some months later Sheila gets a uniform for Berger. Jeanne cuts his hair. Berger dresses up as an officer and he gets into the military base. He meets Claude, but it is not easy for him to persuade Claude to leave the base for some hours and meet Sheila and the others. Berger stays there instead of him. While Claude is away, the garrison is alerted for overseas movement. So Berger has to go to Vietnam...
