The Aladár Bitskey swimming-pool, designed by Imre Makovecz and built between 1998 and 2000, has been given the honorary title of “Sports Cathedral”.

The town self-government chose the name of the Eger swimmer, two times European silver medalist, Aladár Bitskey in acknowledgment of his outstanding sports achievements and his several years’ work as a swimming instructor.

The swimming-pool, designed by Imre Makovecz, a renowned architect, is a spectacular sight, a lasting architectural construction, which is suitable for high standard domestic and international contests alike.
