State Wine Cellars of Eger—Gyöngyösvidék. Headquarters: Eger Director: Mr. Pál DANCZ The State Wine Cellars represent the greatest volumen in the wine farming of the County Heves. Its scope of activity covers two im­portant vine producing area: Eger and Mátraalja. Its duty is the development of viticulture, the realization of the quality wine production, the wine farming corresponding to the in­terests of the producers, the purchasing of wine and vine products, their processing and the fulfilment of home and export requirements. To meet these requirements — including the stocking, the treating, the ageing and bottling of wine — this establisment has a large set of cellars and modern equipments. It has its own vine industry, where the modern large scale vine pro­duction was first in our country implemented. Its many-fold develop­ment activity is brightly manifested by the replantation of the area of the hill of Egad and by the replantation of the new varieties of the quality red wine. As regards to the vinification, stocking, ageing and selling the most important are the complex of cellars in Eger and in Gyöngyös. Re­garding to its specific microflora, its processing and stocking capa­city the cellar situated in the street of Árnyékszala in Eger is one of the most important establishments of our country. In this so cal­led cellar town the quality wines of Eger area are carefully stocked and reserved. The capacity of bottling enterprises belonging to these cellars is one of the greatest in our country. The isothermic cellars and the bottling enterprises will be visited during the study tour. 6
