Dear Guests Ladies and Gentlemen

It will be the 16th occasion that Eger opens its gates for the lovers of Hungarian films at home and abroad. Hungarian reforms at the end of the eighties represent a certain direction in Middle-Eastern Europe.

The intellectuals play a dominating role in life of the renewing country. That is why we decided to show situation, fate of the intellectuals in the focus of our programme. We shall show you the ten most significant films on the subject, supplementing them with lectures of a cinema- tographical and sociological nature, in order to provide a focus on changes in the intellectuals’ way of life during the past forty years.

In 1989, too, we shall present the feature and documentary films that have been produced since the summer school. An opportunity will be provided for participants to discuss the topic under the guidance of an expert.

Among others, you will see newest works of Miklós Dancsó, István Dárdai, Györgyi Szalai, Péter Tímár, Péter Gárdos, Géza Bereményi. We trust, that our actual programme will provide you a unique experience.
