it is a great pleasure for us to welcome you to Heves County. We are sure your decision to visit our region will prove to be a good one. Whenever you come to visit us you will definitely find the best possible ways of having a good time.

The beauty of nature, landscape and architecture - all of them exist in harmony in our county. The settlements in the region are famous for their richness of historic buildings and monuments: the castles, fortresses, museums and churches are witnesses of the eventful history of the towns and villages of Heves County. The county seat, Eger, an idyllic beauty spot, is proud not only of the siege and triumph against the Turkish invadors in 1552, but also of the outstanding creations of the Baroque era, such as the buildings, churches, paintings and wrought-iron works. Eger has often been called "the pearl of Baroque".

Hunting, angling and horse-riding are services available at several places throughout the county.

Lake Tisza - a huge water-reservoire, which resulted from the damming of the Tisza river - is an ideal place for swimming and watersports. The health spas with their curative thermal water offer a unique opportunity for those seeking relaxation and recovery.

"Egri Bikavér" or "Bull's Blood of Eger" and "Leányka" are our world famous wines, as well as the delicious white wines of the region called "Mátraalja"; all of them will delight wine-enthusiasts.
