Changing forints back If, on leaving Hungary, you have forints left over from the amount you officially exchanged for convertible currency, you can change back up to 50 per cent of the exchanged sum (but not more than 100 dollars) at any authorized travel office or branch of the National Savings Bank. You are asked to produce the exchange receipt. Leaving Hungary When leaving Hungary you can take out without a permit personal effects you brought with you, as well as food for consumption on the journey up to a value of 100 Ft (with the exception of coffee and cocoa), and goods bought or received in Hungary up to a value of 3,000 Ft. Goods purchased for convertible currency in Intertourist, Utas- tourist and Konsumtourist shops can be taken out of the country duty-free and without permission on the production of the receipt.
