In the influenced area of the Kisköre Barrage and its pertinent irrigation systems, during the fourth and fifth Five Year Plan 14 irrigation subsystems financed by state object-group investment, have been or are being built. These subsystems provide irrigation for 22 300 hectares of land with the application with the most up-to-date irrigation technique in 24 agricultural farms with high- level management. In this development role of the regions at Abádszalók, Kisújszállás, Mezőhék, Tiszaföldvár (in all Szolnok county), play very important role where an about 10 000 hectare irrigation development has been realized. From among the farms that performed this type of development, the Tiszaföldvár „Lenin” agricultural co-operative farm obtained very good results already in the first year. They reached in case of sugar-beet and maize 46,5 tons/hectare and 6,25 tons/hectare with average yields of 628 and 866 hectare, respectively. Beyond the irrigation development implemented or being implemented by state object-group investment, further 50 000 hectares irrigation is under development in seven counties of the region, in the period of the fifth Five Year Plan. Furthermore the perspective plans contain new irrigation development for 193 000 hectares in the period 1980—1990. This new development is made possible at about one half by the increased water resources supplied by the Kisköre Barrage and available for irrigation development.
