The Party was founded and led by Zoltán Pfeiffer in 1947. The re-formed Party demands independence fór the citi- zens, the family, the workplace and the country. According to its recently pub- lished raanifesto the "Hungárián Independence Party" aims to rally citizens who believe in an independent and neutral existence, in a society based on equal opportunity and equal rights and in a democratic public life, intő political organisations. These three factors will enable the country to recover and become a developed nation. At tomorrow's meeting the Hungárián Alliance of Political Prisoners will alsó make its debut, it was formed on February 19th. At the meeting which begins at 10 am Tibor Hornyák will give a detailed account of the Independence Party's manifesto and experts will report on its economic, military, education, public health, cultural and religous policies. Jenő Fónay will give an account of the plans and objectives of the Hungárián Alliance of Political Prisoners. After 1956 Tibor Hornyák was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by the People's Court and Jenő Fónay was sentenced to death although the Presidential Council later commuted it to life imprisonment. On April 3th the Alliance of Political Prisoners will organise a one-day debate entitled "You ask-I answer on 1956", and, depending on the interest shown, they will repeat it several times.
