Now, more than three decades later, the organisation has been re-formed calling itself "Alliance of Hungárián Political Prisoners" and on February 20th it was registered under number 21 269. In their registratlon application they said that "Our alliance wishes to vork towards a national consensus in the spirit of national unity". On Sunday uhen the new organisation vas formed a ten member leadership was elected ! ^ and it was decided that the Alliance could accept respectable citizens as members as well as supporting members and that they hope that those who were harassed who now live abroad will alsó jóin. Jenő Fónay was elected President and Ferenc Forgács as Vice-President: they were botn imprisoned because they participated in the 1956 revolution, they were sentenced to death bút this was later commuted to life im- priosnment by the Presidential Council. Jenő Fónay wrote two books while he was in prison: a növel entitled Megtorlás ("Retribution") which was published in 1983 in Switzerland and Kiáltás árnyékban (Shouts in the Shadows) published in Vienna last year. The Alliance issued the following announcement to those who were persecuted: "Dear Friendsí On February 19th the Alliance of Hungárián Political Prisoners was formed in Budapest, our address is Groundfloor fiat 1., T Frankéi Leó Street, 1027 Budapest. We ask fór your support and active participation. We ask you to give our address to anyone sentenced, interned and discriminated against whom we cannot locate. Let us unité in the interest of jurisdiction and of the democratic development of our nation. Show your Support!
