On February 3rd the Bajcsy- Zsilinszky Friendship Society held its debate about the constitution there and on the 5th the Free Democrats Alliance held a meeting about public order as one of the series entitled "Our Achiovements", to which, despite their promises, the competent authorities from the Ministiy of the Interior dld nőt come. Today there vas a programme about the fate of prisoners of war entitled "Hungarians in the Gulág". On Sunday the theatre will present a documentary programme about the Bős-Nagymaros dam and on Monday it will repeat the Mindszenty commemoration. On Tuesday February l^th Ion Pacepa’s book "Red Horizons" will be reviewed. János Bródy will give a reading of his own work on Wednesday entitled "Silence my mouth". On February 2f>th a workers conference will be held in the theatre. The theatre is still under threat. It has called a protest on March 4th (with the aid of many Eilternative groups) if the state refuses to comply with their request fór bank credit despite the fact that a West Germán bank is acting as guaranty. At the end of January the Exchequer summoned the Jurta’s leaders to conciliatory negotiations. The negotiations have continued every Thursday with- out success as the Exchequer demands that the theatre initiates bankruptcy proceedings against itself. The Theatre*s leaders believe that the Exchequer does nőt work towards a solution, so they travelled to West Germany to try and obtain cash credit. If their efforts are unsuccessful, bankruptcy proceedings will probably be initiated against them at the end of March or beginning of April. On the 4-th of íebruary a bittér attack was launched on the Jurta in the paper Magyar Nemzet ("Hungárián Nation") entitled "Altemative Volcano". The article reports on the announcement which appeared in an American Hungárián language paper Chicago és környéke ("Chicago and its environs"), which asks those who sent money fór the construction of the National Theatre to transfer their donat- ions, because of delays in construction, to the Jurta Theatre. The Magyar Nemzet publishes statements by Miklós Szinetár, the official in charge of the National Theatre*s construction, and by Ferenc Kállai an actor MP (member of the national presidium of the Hungarian-Soviet Friendship Society). Kállai demands that official proceedings are initiated against the Jurta manager and calls him, László Romhányi, a political adventurer, who "plays havoc". The Secretariat to Savé the Jurta Theatre sent a letter to the Magvar Nemzet , in which they protest against the recent attacks on the Jurta Theatre and state that they operate in the interest of the democratic development of the Jurta Theatre. The letter dated February 5th was signed by Antal Bogád, Péter Hermán, Tamás Kis and László Nagy, it has still nőt appeared in the Magyar Nemzet.
