The aim of the meeting was to come to an agreement on the aims and structural form of its future operation as a generál assembly will be held by the Network on Sunday November 13th in the Jurta Theatre the purpose of which is to debate and make dec- isions on these issues. The forty participants in yesterday’s meeting did nőt suc- ceed in drawing up a coherent statement about the proposals to be pút before the generál assembly. Somé members of the council were of the view that the Network should transform intő a national organisation with a membership, programme and a new name. Others were faithful to the original aim of the Network and thought that its task was to co-ordinate the activities of the Hungárián democratic movements, that it should keep its name and maintain its flexible organisational form without membership. Somé of the organisers had sent invitations to'the generál assembly to 1500 Network supporters in which it was said that only those who agreed with the "Principle Declaration" enclosed and those who jóin the Democratic Alliance an organisation which is being formed, would have the right to vote at the assembly, these people were sharply criticised at the meeting. Finally it was decided in the council meeting that different viewpoints would be equally represented in the generál assembly on Sunday and that after the debate the assembly will decide on the programme, the organisational form and the future name of the Network fór Free Init- iatives. />) Subscribers can use or quote the Hungárián October newsletters in totál or in detail as long as the source is acknowledged.
