Evén a complete national list of those who were executed after being sentenced by the summary courts remains locked in safes in the Ministry of the Interior. However this hopeless task began in prison when prisoners began to draw up a list of those killed on the basis of political charges from November 1956 until 1962. On the basis of research done by a young researcher who uses the name Elek Fenyes in samizdat publications and by those who work fór the independent press "Catalyst Office" and of the memories of ex-56-prisoners the first incomplete list was read out on June l6th. The names, occupations, datesof birth and datesof execution of revolutionaries who were sentenced to death and executed were announced at a commem- oration held in Rákoskeresztúr Cemetery on the anniversary of the execution of Imre Nagy and his fellow accused. The record which lists 24-4- names only mentions a few of those executed in the Budapest National Prison. Another list mentioning 29 people which was pút together from names occasionally published in newspapers and official publications was alsó read out in the cemetery. Research continues so that the reprisals which followed the revolution can be learnt in detail and made public. Imre Mécs an engineer who was sentenced to death after 56 bút whose sentence was later cominuted to life imprisonment asks anyone who has any information on those executed to let him know either personally, by phone or by registered post (1121 Budapest, Zugligeti út 33; tel. 761-751). Subscribers can use or quote the Hungárián October newsletters in totál or in detail as long as the source is acknowledged. _______ __,_______________________________________________________ _______-________ .j
