Kras-si 118/1987 (E) October 23rd,1987 Festivals of remembrance in London on October 23rd On October 23rd the three members of the Budapest independent art group INCONNU who are currently in England --Péter Bokros, Tamás Molnár, Magdi Serfőző - and the Hungárián October Free Press held festivals of remembrance in London parallel to the unofficial commemorations held by the INCONNU group in Budapest. At 11 am in South Kensington flowers were Iáid on the monument to the victims of the Yalta Accord. Then György Krassó, the organiser of the Hungárián October Free Press based in London, and Tamás Molnár, a member of the INCONNU group, made a commem- oration speech recalling the events of the revolution and freedom fight which happened 31 years ago, the Soviet military intervention and the failure of the Western powers to help. After this Marék Garztecki, the London representative of the Polish "Solidarity" movement, spoke about the common struggles and amb- itions fór freedom both pást and present of the Hungárián and Polish nations. At the end of the short celebration those present sang the Anthem. In the afternoon at 5 pm at the hall in north London (99 Torriano Avenue) Hungárián emigrés and tourists gatherea once again, there were alsó English people, Poles and other nationalities who were interested present. The hall was hung witn graphics by the INCONNU group. Those preparing fór the commemoration programme in Budapest phoned and an audience of about 60 strong heard their account. The celebration was opened by György Krassó, then Tamás Molnár read out the INCONNU group*s declaration which said that Hungary could only come out of its present serious crisis if the objectives of 1956 were realised and if the Hungárián Demo- cratic Opposition is renewed by the adoption of the revolutionary programme. The INCONNU group members showed their videó "Glória Victis" which they had made in Hungary using documentaries from the period. The sequence showing the days of revolution was nőt accompanied by the usual text instead foreign poems written about 1956 could be heard interpyeted by a young Hungárián actor.
