Rro»*«i 63/87/E/ 14-^May, 1987 Foreign Citizens Have Been Taken Intő Custody in Budapest Foreign citizens have heen taken intő custody by the Hungárián police during today’s laté morning hours. These include three Austrian members of parliament fór the "G-reen" . party, eight Austrian activists fór environmental protection, an Austrian press photographer and Mr Nick Thorpe, correspondent in Budapest fór the BBC and the Independent. The Austrian environmental protectionists were distributing pamphlets worded in Hungárián in various parts of tpwn including the Moseow Square and the Batthyány Square. In these pamphlets they apologized to the Hungárián people fór Austria*s commit- ment to fináncé the building of the Bős-Nagymaros hydraulic power station, which will nőt only do the environment considerable damage bút is apparently alsó devoid of any economical purpose. The foreign citizens were released after three hours, bút nine Austrian citizens including three members of parliament were requested to cease their activities and to leave the country / within 24 hours. ________________AH___
