Tanulmányok - Fábián Edit: Várad reneszánsz püspökei és reneszánsz emlékeik

Hajdú-Bihar Megyei Levéltár Évkönyve XXX. 25 Thurzó Zsigmond váradi püspök síremléke. 1512 Andrea Scolari síremléke. 1426 Renaissance bishops and renaissance memorials of Varad Edit Fábián The paper presents in outline the life paths of Várad’s seven bishops starting from 1409 to 1526. These were the following: Scolari András /representative of the protorenaissance/; Vitéz János; Pruisz János Kálmáncsehi Domonkos Szatmári György Thurzó Zsigmond and Perényi Ferenc /al of them renaissance representatives/. Their origin, schooling, religious stipend and role played in politics are made known. In connection with their life paths, the secularism increasingly strengthening in religion and thus in the religious circles also, can be clearly sensed. The renaissance memorials created under the above-mentioned Varad episcopacy are also summarised in the paper. The memorials created in Varad are presented, starting from the tombstone of Scolari András, through the codices of Vitéz, Pruisz and Kálmáncsehi, to the Thurzó Episcopal palace inclusive. While the table summarising these, illustrates the development and expansion of the renaissance in Transylvania and Hungary.
