The distribution of the landed property of the Chapter occurred only in 1945, which act also meant the end of the servant status of the population. In 1950, an agricultural co-operative was formed by the people, although Folyás only became an officially acknowledged cooperative settlement as late as 1959.

This latter period had an unfavorable influence on a part of the population, and they moved to the neighboring Leninváros to work in the industry there. As they were given modern housing facilities, a steady tendency in the decrease of the population of Folyás commenced.

After the change of the political system in 1990, the population became more diverse from the aspect of financial standing, and perhaps a repatriation trend started to emerge. In 1992, a referendum was taken and, as a result, the decision to secede from Polgár was made. Ever since that lime, a democratically elected local government has been the head of the settlement.

One of the concerns that has been around since the declaration of independence is the relocation of the school. At present, the local children have to go to school to Ujszentmargita, although the existence of a local school would make it possible to retain young families or the settling of new families in the area, once there are job opportunities available.
