Further data on the Debrecen venues of the events in 1849 József Papp The aim of the study is to identify the venues of the events taking place in Debrecen during the 1848/49 Bourgeois Revolution and War of Independence with the help of contemporaneous and modem maps, archival and other documents. Presented are here the hiding place in a private library of the Holy Crown rescued from Buda Castle, the changing of the building of the Town Hall, the orators’ rostrum used in the public meetings in the Town Hall’s courtyard. It was possible to locate exactly the Gate-house through which Lajos Kossuth arrived in the city. Out of the venues of the decisive events taking place in Debrecen, mention is made of the block of buildings previously called Dohánygyár (Tobacco Factory), the Monastery of the Piarist Order, the Andaházy-Szilágyi house, the Bárczy house, the Beck house, the Kis-Orbán house, the Komáromy house, the one-time White Horse Inn, the Nádor guesthouse, the Nyúlás pub, the Reformed College, Szabadság Square, Köntös dam, Kokasló, the venue of the troops deployment for the Debrecen battle, the battlefield itself, the Soldiers’ cemetery, the Heroes’ cemetery. Beyond these the study deals with the Debrecen residences of some important personalities involved in the events.
