Győr, a királyi város 1271–2011. Válogatás a városi levéltár kincseiből (Győr, 2011)
(now the county’s public library) was separated in 1950. The nationalization happened the same year and merged the former county and city archives and the archives in Pannonhalma integrated into the newly established state archives. The transition enabled Győr to reorganize its oldest institution. The local authority - with reference to the municipal law - voted for the reorganization of the City Archives in 1993 and decided the „Old City Hall’ to be as its residence. The archives moved its 700-year- old collection, which amounted 1200 metres that time. We have expanded this collection with 2000 metres documents for 19 years. We can present only a few documents in our publication. Our book contains the two most important copies: the one providing the rights of a Royal City issued by Queen Maria Theresa. It was signed on 6th May 1743. the other one is the so-called Seal-donating issued by King Ferdinand V. in 1844. Besides these copies the readers can see the first remaining minutes of the city authority and the earliest land register from the collection of the Archives. Four of our copies are from the period before 1526. (that was the year of the battle of Mohács), and other precious documents. The Archives would like to call the attention with this issue not only to the Royal Privileges by King Stephen Vi but we emphasize the importance of all documents and charters, having significant anniversary soon. These anniversaries are good opportunities not only for celebrations, but they create the possibility of research, and publishing new studies. József Bana the director of the archive
