Horváth József: Milkovics János pápóci prépost könytáráról

150 Horváth József 133. Horatij Flacci carmina in 12mo 134. Epitome in 8vo 135. Notitia Concylioru[m] Cabasutij in 8vo136 136. Tractatus de eo quod Justum est in 4to Summary On the library of János Milkovics, provost of Pápoc Scholars of Early Modern Age library history dealt hitherto mostly with the private collections of the period beginning with the 1530’s lasting over 200 years. Similar sources preserved from the mid-18th century, however, have evaded the scholars’ attention. The present paper examines and publishes with annotations the catalogue of the inventory of János Milkovics’s legacy, provost of Pápoc taken in 1761. After a short historiographical survey the author summarises the data concerning the testator and his family, then the most crucial characteristics of the catalogue are summed up. Although the majority of the works are in Latin, a small group of Hungarian publications also deserves attention. Beside these, a few German and Italian books are also mentioned in the catalogue. Concerning the content, the largest group understandably consists of theological works, and there are lots of books on law and history, as well as classical authors. Summing up, from the preserved catalogue we can form a notion of a library of an educated canon of Győr, graduating from Vienna and Rome, whose collection also included some publications printed in Streibing Press. 133Cabassutius, JNotita conciliorum sanctae ecclesiae, ...; nagyszombati kiadásai (1714., 1750.) mellett van egy „Jaurini-Tyrnaviae” megjelöléssel ellátott editio is (vö.: Petrik I. 370., V. 84.).
