SZABÓ, J.: Revision of Hierlatz Limestone gastropods Conclusion This was the first step toward publishing advanced results of a few ten years taxonomical work on the Hierlatz Limestone gastropods. Unfortunately, the unfavourable fossilisation conditions frequentiy did not permit collecting specimens satisfactorily preserved to precise identification. However, already the available material bears huge amount of information about the survival and the re-colonisation of the Mediterranean Jurassic seas after the Late Triassic mass extinction, which would be unaccesible without these not excellendy preserved shells. A kind of short summary about the taxonomical results from the revision of STOLICZKA's (1861) "originals collections" is collected into Table 2 with some inventor}' help. * * * Acknowledgements — I am thankful to DR. HARALD LOBITZER, retired geologist of the Geologische Bundesanstalt (Vienna), who many ways helped to realise this monograph; he has organised and guided expeditions to the Austrian type localities; most of these field trips were supported in the frame of the collaboration agreement between the Geologische Bundesanstalt and the Hungarian Geological Institute. I am also indebted to DR. FRANZ STOJASPAL, retired and to DR. IRENE ZORN, active curator of the GBa Museum, for their assistance in the collection works, just like to DR. HEINZ KOLLMANN, DR. HERBERT SUMMESBERGER, DR. ALEXANDER LUKENEDER and DR. ANDREAS KRÜH for their help they have provided for me to become familiar with the collections in the Naturhistorisches Museum (Vienna). Many thanks to DR. MARIA ALESSANDRA CONTI (Rome, University "La Sapienza") and DR. STEFANO MONARI (Padova University) for their help to see important Italian collections of faunas, closely related to those of the Hierlatz Limestone Formation. Special thanks due DR. STEFANO MON AR I and DR. ISTVÁN SZENTÉ (Budapest) who critically read the manuscript. The revision was also granted in the frame of two projects of the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (T 22164, T 31873). References AMNION, L.
