INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS Fragmenta Palaeontologica Hungarica accepts papers written in fields of palaeontology and its interdisciplinary relations. Topic should be associated with the palaeontological research in Hungary (e. g.: author, locality depositor}- of material, palaeo­biogeorgaphical or historical relations, etc.). Papers must be original. Periodicity Normal volumes printed once a year. Special volumes in Fragmenta Palaeontologica Hungarica can also be printed on own expenses (proceedings of meetings, report volume on research project, etc.). Deadline for submitting manuscripts First week of January for normal volume; by agreement in case of special volume. Editing, referees Editorial board covers main fields of palaeontology-. Two (+ one if necessary) referees for each paper. Preparation of manuscripts — Please, consult also the last volume of Fragmenta Palaeontologica Hungarica. Fragmenta Palaeontologica Hungarica accepts only papers or series of papers. Extent of contributions to special volumes may be different. Papers must be written in English. Suggested construction of the manuscripts (underlined : obligatory component): Title " Author(s) Abstract Keywords Introduction Geological setting/Localities Material, methods Mam part of the paper with optional subtitles Conclusions Acknowledgements References Author's/authors' acldress/cs. e-mail(s) Figure captions Plate captions Figures Plates Text — Print of the MS needed in original + two copies. Text after correction will be requested also in electronic form, in MS Office XP compatible format but rich text format (.rtf) most preferred. Page format: double lined with 2500 characters of 12 points font size. (Letter type Garamond is preferred.) Generic and species names are to be typed in Italics. Authors (in name of taxa and citation): in SMALL CAPS. Format of citations in text: D'ORBIGNY (1850, 1852) or (D'ORBIGNY 1850, 1852; DUMORTIER 1874), MORRIS & CLEE­VELY (1981), more than two authors: PRESTON et al. (1996). No further editing requested disregarding tides and paragraphs. Figure, Table, Plate — Please, prepare them in black-and­white. (Coloured pages available only on full own expenses.) Diagrams and photos needed in original, they must be of high resolution, clear and sharp. Size of illustrations: 1:1 to printable form or proportionally larger. "Portrait" format preferred for full-page illustration. Digital images must be prepared in 300 dpi resolution of .TIFF or .PSD format. Please, use Garamond characters in the illustrations; 14 pt Bold numbers must be applied to identify elements in Plates. Maximal printable sizes of illustrations (please, plan them to be economically suitable): Figure, Table ' (full page): 180x250 mm (one column): 85x250 mm Plate: 180 x245 mm Do not forget: size of smallest printed letters in illustrations should be about 1 mm to read them easily. References — Key to the samples: underlined data are necessary if they were not included into numbered pages. Papers in journals: AUTHOR IN SMALL CAPS (year of publication): Title. — The complete name of the journal, \series\, volume number (part of volume): page number interval, plate number interval . figure number interval . Book: AUTHOR IN SMALL CAPS (year of publication): Title. Number of volutue(s). — Name of publisher, place (city) of publication, number of pages, number of plates , number ot figures (latter three data may be given in intervals if parts have been cited). Paper in book: AUTHOR IN SMALL CAPS (year of publication): Title. — In: AUTHOR or EDITOR of book: Title. Number of volume(s). — Name of publisher, place (city) of publication, page number interval, plate number interval , figure number interval Further information — - Number of free reprints: 10?; Adobe Acrobat file of papers will be available for own reproduction. - Pages exceeding A/ 4 format available only on own expenses. - Criteria for selection from too many equally qualified papers; * = information needed: • paper based on material deposited in the blungarian Natural History Museum; • establishing new taxon or other results of the paper need supporting of priority; • *results already presented in professional events; • *author negotiating sponsor; • (extent of volumes depends on financial limit) papers, not rejected owing to its unsatisfactory qualification, can be published on own expenses.
