Celebrating the 65 th birthday of Dénes Jánossy During his whole scientific career devoted to the study of fossil mammals and birds Dénes Jánossy, the eminent scholar and teacher, has been working for the Hungarian Natural History Museum. He joined the staff of the Department of Paleontology as an Assistant in 1946 and became a Curator and Research Fellow in 1952. He was promoted to the Assistant Head of Department in 1961 and acted as the Head of Department from 1970 until, his retirement in 1986. He has been teaching vertebrate paleontology to generations of geology and archeology students. He has developed extensive collections of fossil mammals as well as recent and fossil birds from localities all around the world. We wish him further success in research and in his relentless effort in protecting endangered bird species.
