Material: sample No 859, depth 1724.4 m The width of the lamina is approximately 3 cm, the length cannot be measured due to the fragmentary state of preservation. Apart from the midvein and the two basal veins, the tertiary venation is also preserved. The species is characteristic of the Oligocene/Miocene boundary. It is dominant in the Upper Oligocène of Hungary (Hably 1988,1989, 1990) as well as in Transylvania and Germany (Zsil Valley and Habichtswald, Meissner, Biefhanersdorf, respectively). It was sporadically found in the Lower Miocene, e.g. in the flora of Ipolytarnóc comprising a total of several thousand specimens, there is only one or two prints of this species known. Some authors consider it the shadow leaf of Daphnogene lanceolata, supported by the fact that these two species fairly frequently occur together; in the Egerian localities D. lanceolata occurs generally in dominant quantities.
