Vörös A. szerk.: Fragmenta Mineralogica Et Palaentologica 14. 1989. (Budapest, 1989)

The lateral comissure is nearly straight or gently arched. There is a wide and long planarea on the side of the shell. The growth lines are well-marked, running parallel with the anterior margin. The valve of the adults is anteriorly domed, that is, the thickness of the valve was increasing during ontogeny. The anterior comissure is straight or gently, widely sulciplicate. The juvenile forms are less inflated, their umbo is less curved and their anterior margin is straight. Remarks : Intraspecific variation affects the width and thickness of the shell and the shape of the anterior comissure. As a whole, it differs from d'ORBIGNY's figures 4, 5 and 8 in having a smaller and wider shell with broadly and gently plicate comissure. It agrees closely with the figure by DIENI et al. (1973). On internal characters, SMIRNOVA's (1972) P. dutempleana can be assigned to Praelongithyris indeed. On the other hand, the transverse sections figured by DIENI et al. (1973) differ from those of Praelongithyris. " Terebratula " dutempleana resembles P. praelongiforma externally, but has a wider, more massive shell with a rather incurved umbo. The genus Moutonithyri s was described by MIDDLEMISS (1976). He remarked that Terebratula dutempleana d'Orbigny was assigned to the new genus, but did not describe it. Distribution : Aptian of south-eastern Spain, Sardinia and the Caucasus; Albian of eastern England, Spain, northern and eastern France, Switzerland, Poland (the Carpathians); Cenomanian of England and Germany. Moutonithyris aff. dutempleana (d'Orbigny, 1847) (Plate III: 5-8) Material : 4 pedicle valves from the Közöskutiárok. Dimensions (mm) : O 28 W 20 Description : Elongated triangular shell with straight or rounded anterior margin. The valve is inflated, slightly depressed at the anterior quarter, with maximum convexity at the posterior third. Maximum width of the valve is near to the anterior margin, maximum thickness is about the mid-line. The umbo is massive, erect with a large, circular foramen. The symphytium is very short. A well-marked edge separates the wide and long lateral planarea from the ventral part of the valve. The lateral comissure runs ' ' straightly ventralwards at the posterior part, Fig. 17 then it is arched ventralwards and dorsalMoutonithyris aff. dutempleana in lateral view wards at the anterior third (Fig. 17). In juvenile forms, the valve is less convex and is more elongated, the planarea is less developed, the anterior margin is straight. Remarks : It can be distinguished from M. dutemplean a by its more elongated outline, more markedly separated planarea and smaller size. It seems to be a new species.
