M - Short tooth of intricate structure. Its anterior part is well developed, while the posterior part is reduced. The mesoloph is short. There is an island between the protocone and the paracone, just as in case of the hypocone. In 38% of the cases the closing cingulum is interrupted on the labial side. Karstocricetus sp. Fig. 1:4, Fig. 2:4-5, Fig. 3:5, Fig. 5:1-2, Fig. 6:5, Fig. 7:3 1980. Neocricetodon (" Kowalskia ") schaubi ssp. - KRETZOI, p. 349. Material : Széchenyi-Hill in Budapest, 4 Svájci str. (In the course of the excavation of the foundation pit of a house, the teeth were found in reddish clay intercalated into freshwater limestone). The items marked with asterisk are mentioned by KRETZOI (1980): M* 3 specimens (1 X) M 2 5 specimens M 3 3 specimens Mj 4 specimens + 1 fragment (4 X, one is figured) Mg 4 specimens (1 M) Mg 1 specimen. Description: Mj - In four cases the anteroconid is strongly bifid and in one case there is an additional cusp (like in the case of the genus Apode mus ). The ridges starting from the two anteroconids are connected in one point with the ridges coming from'the meta- and protoconids. Between the two anterior cones no closed island could be found. The mesolophid is long and reaches the tooth margin. The ectomesolophid is definitely present on all the four teeth, and in certain cases it is strong. The ento- and hypoconid is connected through the hypolophulidectolophulid system. The closing (final) cingulum is well developed. Mg - Its structure is the same as that of Karstocricetus skofleki gen. n., sp. n. Ectomesolophid can be found on each item and the lateral cingula are strong. Mg - Concerning its morphology it is the same as Mg of Karstocricetus skofleki gen. n., sp. n. M - The anterocone is bifid. The labial epiphysis is present with one item, and it is long, while in case of the other two items it is missing. Among the four cones islands can be found in each case. The mesoloph is long and reaches till the tooth margin and the lateral and closing cingula are strong. 2 M - Among the four cones islands can be found in each case. The mesoloph is long, and the cingula are strong. At the joint of the metacone and hypocone the posterior crest is stronger than in the previous case. M 3 - The structure is* the same as that of the M 3 of the Karstocricetus skofleki gen. n., sp. n. but it is more intricate. The larger island, between the proto- and paracones is divided into two parts by a lower-positioned longitudinal rib. At the end of the posterior part, in one case, two smaller island-like enclosure have also developed. The interruption of the cingulum could not be observed.
