Vörös A. szerk.: Fragmenta Mineralogica Et Palaentologica 13. 1987. (Budapest, 1987)

Measurements :(length x width in mm) Kohfidisch materials see in BACHMAYER and WILSON (19 70). Sümeg: Mj = 2. 1 x 1. 2 M 1 = 2. 1 x 1. 4* 2. 2 x 1. 5 2.0 x 1.2 2. 2 x 1.4 2.0 x 1. 3 ote : The holotype of Neocricetodon transdanubicus based on only one M* is described by KRETZOI (1985). He gave the length of the holotype as 2. 3 mm. The holotype was, however, re-examined by the author in the Palaeovertebrate Collection of the Hungarian Geological Institute, who used ocular micrometer for this purpose. The measured length was 2. 1 mm. If we consider KRETZOI* s values on the basis of his figure (Table LVI, fig. 5), width is 1. 5 mm. Karstocricetus gen, n. Derivatio nominis: "Karst" refers to the fact that the Hungarian finds were excavated from karstic sediments. Genoholotype : Karstocricetus skofleki sp. n. Locus et stratum typicum: Tardosbánya, Gerecse Mts., Hungary. Clayey infilling in a karstic shaft opened in Jurassic limestone quarry by D. JÁNOSSY and the author in 1975. Early Pontian, i. e. Early Turolian; MN 12 zone. Diagnosis: The mesoloph(id) is long in each case, the ectomesolophid is sometimes present. Karstocricetus skofleki sp. n. Fig. 8:1-3, Fig. 9:1-3, Plate I: 1-8, Plate II: 1-8 Derivatio nominis: To the memory of the late palaeobotanist, dr. I. SKOFLEK. Holotype: In the Palaeontological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum (Budapest), a left mandibular fragment with M^-Mg. Inventory number: V. 86, 2. Paratype: In the same collection as the holotype, a right maxillar fragment with M^-M 3 , Inv. No. : V. 86, 3. Locus et stratum typicum: see description of the genus. Diagnosis: Small to medium sized Late Neogene cricetid (Fig. 10). The mesoloph(id) of Mj, Mg, M and M 2 is long in each case. The ectomesolophid is present in 10% of the M^. The labial epiphysis is frequent and long (85%) on M*. The metacone is connected to the arch of hypocone-posteroloph mostly (84%) through the posterior metalophule. Material: From Tardosbánya: M^ 60 specimens Mg 49 specimens Mg 25 specimens 12 3 M 40 specimens M 45 specimens M 18 specimens Description: M^ - The anteroconid is undivided: 40%; bifid: 28%; and 32% is significantly or sometimes is divided into three parts. The anterolophulid is joined to the appendices of the protoconid and metaconid with one branch (66%); with two branches (30%), and with 3 branches (4%). No lingual and labial epiphysis is present. There is a bilateral cingulum-like elongation of the anteroconid that is with the addition of the anterolophulid. The mesolophid is present and long in each case and reaches the lingual margin, where it expands and produces the mesostylid that contributes to the development of the lingual cingulum. On the labial side, between the proto- and hypoconid the ectomesolophid is present in 10% of the cases. This is snort and of anterolabial direction. In the same direction, in 75% of the cases, ectostylid had developed. The entoconid and the hypoconid are joined only by the anterior hypolophulid and the ectolophulid. The hypoconid and posterolophid constitute a uniform closing cingulum.
