Fig. 1. Variation of dental characters in fossil and recent specimens and populations of Myotis blythi. A= upper M 3 length, B= upper M 3 width, C= upper M 3 width/length ratio. Measurements in millimeters are given on the vertical axes except for C, where those are the values of the ratios. For each locality (1= Beremend Loc. 15, 2= Tarko, 3= Recent), the vertical line represents the observed range; the horizontal line indicates the mean (or single value); the black bar marks one standard deviation on either side of the mean and the rectangle indicates two standard errors above and below the mean. In cases of standard deviation exceeding the range, this is omitted and ranges and means are shown. The number of specimens for each locality is given below the vertical line Myotis cf. kormosi Heller, 1936 A single right upper canine collected in 1981 by D. JÁNOSSY and the author. Measurements: Cross-sectional length 1.22 mm, cross-sectional width 0.97 mm. Remarks . The tooth - that of a medium-sized Myotis - has on its lingual side a slight longitudinal ridge anteriorly, weaker than in most specimens of M. kormosi or similar sized animals, as compared with those from the Gundersheim type locality, Osztramos 9 and Carnóta 2 localities. Fig. 2 A. Normal probability plots of the fossil and recent Myotis blythi upper M 3 width/length ratios. X = observed values, y = expected normal values. Open symbols indicate fossils, the one marked by an arrow is the specimen from Beremend Loc. 15. Full symbols indicate recent specimens. Asterisks mark overlapping fossil and recent values. Fig. 2 B. Detrended normal probability plots of the fossil and recent Myotis blythi upper M 3 width/length ratios .Explanation of symbols as above
