Test big, of three whorls. Contours circular. Dorsal surface flat, the ventral one more convex. Chambers rapidly growing, strongly embracing each other. Four chambers in the early whorls, three in the last one, which is usually strongly compressed; however, "high" Variaties occur as well. Sutures somewhat deepened, right. Apertural face flatte­ned, well differentiated from the other parts of the last cham­ber. Aperture is a low, short arch, with a well developed lip; intraumbilical. Umbilicus narrow, filled with sediment. Test wall rugose, reticulate. Often there is a small, abortive cham­ber, covering the umbilicus. Note, Ancestor of Globigerina tapuriensis; they are very similar to each other. (See Blow et Banner. 1962.) Occurrence. Very frequent in the Cylindroclavulina cylindrica Zone; .disappears in the Eocene/Oligocene transitio­nal beds.. Budapest region, Bükk Mountains foreland.
