Summary

Sebastiane» da Lugo arrived to Hungary in the company of Ippolito d'Este (who was seven years old at the time) in 1487. He was the teacher (praeceptor) of the Archbishop of Esztergom in his infancy. Before that, he had been employed as the preceptor of Isabella and Alfonso, the children of Ercole d'Este by the court of Ferrara. After three years of Hungarian residency Sebastiano died. On 6 October 1490 all of his belongings were subjected to appraisal and were taken stock of. Along with his library - in which mainly antique authors, rhetorical works and dictionaries were featured -, his personal belongings included a few smithworks and rings with gemmas.
