II. KÖZLEMÉNYEK - Csorba György - Lengyel Beatrix: Roger Fenton készíthetett-e Kmety Györgyről fotográfiát? Kmety György ismert, ismeretlen és vélt egykorú ábrázolásai

army. After retiring from service there he lived in London from 1851 to 1854. During the Crimean War he rejoined the Ottoman army and - according to the sources - served in Anatolia from April 1854 until December 1855. He played an important part in the defence of Kars on 29 September 1855, and even published a book about his experiences (A Narrative of the Defence of Kars on the 29th September, 1855, London, 1856). Until 1861 he lived mainly in the Ottoman Empire, taking part in the resolution of the Lebanese crisis of 1860. From 1861 onwards he lived in London, where he died there in 1865 and was buried in Kensal Green Cemetery. We know of five clearly authentic pictures of Kmety. 1.
