written by PERCY LATHY ( 1870-1943) with the script " Thecla sinnis Gd." (this name is considered to be nomen dubium by ROBBINS 2004: 137). No specimen of Denivia espiritosanto was figured by D'ABRERA ( 1995), who faithfully documented the Neotropical Lycaenidae collection of the BMNH. Although several specimens of the new taxon were present in this museum and seen by specialists the specimens still stood as "Thecla Usus" in the collection. In the UFPR collection Denivia espiritosanto was curated as "Thecla nr Usus (STOLL, 1790)" by ROBBINS indicating the close relationship between the two taxa. Probably it is reflected in the Checklist of Neotropical Butterflies under the numbers 126-29, where a "Theritas [sp. n.] Robbins, MS" from "Brazil (SC)" indicated for the number 127 (ROBBINS 2004: 102). Figs 1-4. Denivia espiritosanto sp. n. type material: 1 = holotype male in dorsal view, 2 = ditto, in ventral view, 3 = female paratype no. 26 (allotype) in dorsal view, 4 = ditto, in ventral view
