hind tibia, basal 1 /3 of fore tibia, as well as mid and hind basitarsi reddish yellow, legs otherwise darker grey. Hind tibia with 2 strong dorsal setae in apical third. Posteroventral row of hind femur consists of thick but not too long setae. Bare area of hind femur medially 0.72 mm long from ca. 0.25 mm from base on the 2.09 mm long femur. Armature of hind trochanter consists of 0.15-0.17 mm long thin bristles. Abdominal tergites dull grey, some marginal setae on tergites 3-5 (particularly so for the lateral ones) longer than tergites. Male genitalia. Epandrium semi-cylindrical rather than globular; cerci long, thin in lateral view (Fig. 1), cereal setae not long (cf. GORODKOV 1962: figs 32-33 for 5. robusta GORODKOV, 1962), cranial edge with short sharp black thornlets. Subepandrial process (Fig. 2) best seen it its broadest extension, in a subvental-subanterior view: medially (ventrally) with numerous, medium-long and pointed black setae. Shape of the subepandrial process much different in lateral view (Fig. 1). Surstylus (Fig. 1) broad, apex broadly rounded, all setae on its inner (medial) side. Only one thick seta on surstylus centrally, all the other setae are apical. Dorso-caudal (basal) process of surstylus with a long stalk (Fig. 4) apical part much broadened (see on Fig. 1 ) and bears numerous thick black blunt thorns. Gonopods with several setae, only one of the longer (0.10 mm). Paramere (Fig. 3) large, with a long basal process, no incision apically, apical (caudal) process small rounded, cranial edge with a short apical bristle; epiphallus comparatively large. Ejaculatory apodeme (Fig. 5) comparatively short, straight in dorsal view. Female unknown. Remarks - As for the related species in Europe, S. hungarica PAPP et CARLES-TOLRÁ, 1994 has dense thick setae of 0.05-0.06 mm on hind trochanter ventrally. Its central bare area of hind femur medially 0.78 mm long from base on the 1.42 mm long femur. Its palpi are black, gena below eye 0.24 mm, height of eye 0.48 mm, longest peristomial seta 0.11 mm. Its male genitalia are wholly different (cf. PAPP & CARLES-TOLRÁ 1994: figs 15-18). The closest relative of the new species is probably S. robusta GORODKOV, 1962, which was described from Tajikistan. Indeed, S. robusta is much larger, 7.0 mm with 7.5 mm wing length, it has similarly broad surstylus but its cerci are with much longer setae caudally. If compared to the epandrium, surstylus of S. kirilli are larger, and the shape of the surstylus is different (cf. GORODKOV 1962: figs 32-33). Dr KlRILL BORISOVICH GORODKOV (Zoological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, now of Russia, Leningrad, now St. Petersburg) studied this specimen and he prepared its postabdomen with genitalia in 1970, when he had a study trip to the HNHM. He has never described the species. The preparátum was glued on a plastic card below the specimen. It was solved in hot water (I do not know the way of preparation, or the material, in which it had been kept). It was treated in lactic acid for 12 or so hours, washed in lukewarm water and it was put into a plastic microvial of 10 x 4 mm with glycerol.
