to the common Earomyia adriatica (BECKER, 1895), however both the structure of the male genitalia and differences in the chaetotaxy of the apical segment of the female ovipositor distinguish it from that species. The little ecological information, which exists, seems to point to an association with fen and wetland habitats. - Hungary: Tihany, láprét, 23.IV. 1979, leg. L. PAPP, 1 male. Lonchaea gorodkovi KOVALEV, 1974 - A little known species in Europe, originally described from specimens collected in the vicinity of Moscow, Russia, where the larvae were found beneath the bark of oak (Quercus spp.) and alder (Alnus spp.) trees (KOVALEV 1974). In recent times it has been recorded from the Czech Republic. - Hungary: ANP Almás-kert, erdő, 14.VIII.1990, leg. PAPP, L., 1 male. Lonchaea hackmani KOVALEV, 1981 - This species belongs to the Lonchaea peregrina BECKER, 1895 group within the genus Lonchaea, which is distinguished by the presence of multiple stigmatical setulae, pale squamal fringes and partly yellow tarsomeres. KOVALEV (1981) reviewed this group and identified L. hackmani KOVALEV, 1981 and L. subneatosa KOVALEV, 1974 as separate species from L. peregrina. L. hackmani can be separated from the others in this group by a combination of characters including the presence of spinules on the costa of the wing and the distribution and number of setulae on the margin of the scutellum. In Europe L. hackmani has the most northerly distribution of these three species and has been reared from a range of poplars (Populus spp.). - Hungary: Sátor-hg., Tokár-tető, 8-14.VIII.1957, leg. ZSIRKÓ, 1 female. Lonchaea krivosheinae KOVALEV, 1973 - Originally described from specimens collected in the Primor'ye region of the Russian far east this species has only been previously recorded in Europe from the Czech Republic. It seems to be relatively common in Hungary and there are most probably further specimens in the HNHM collection. KOVALEV (1973) notes a larval association with poplars (Populus spp.). - Hungary: Budapest, Pestszentlőrinc, Péterhalmi-erdő, tölgyes szélén, 14. VI. 2003, leg. PAPP L., 1 male; same locality, I.V.2005, leg. PAPP L., 1 male; same locality, 16.V.2004, leg. PAPP L., 1 male; same locality, virágokról, 17.VIII.1993, leg. PAPP L., 1 male; Budapest, Irhásárok, 11. VI. 1957, leg. ZSIRKÓ, 1 male; Csévharaszt, TT homokbuckás, 6.V.2004, leg. PAPP L., 1 male; Tard, Bába-völgy, rét, 16.V.1957, leg. TÓTH S., 3 males; Kardosrét, Cuha-völgy, irtáserdőn hálózva, 7.VI.1970, leg. TÓTH S., 1 male; Fenyőfő, Osfenyves, 16.VII.1972, leg. TÓTH S., 1 male; Zalaháshágy, 8.V.1957, leg. SOÓS Á., 1 male. Lonchaea mallochi MACGOWAN et ROTHERAY, 2000 - It was somewhat surprising to find this species in Hungary as it was previously thought to be mainly confined to western Europe, having been described from specimens collected in the British Isles. It belongs to a group of very similar species, which are only identifiable with confidence by reference to the male genitalia. The specimen in the HNHM is a male and is immediately distinguished from other species with a single stigmatical setae, dark squamal fringe and partly yellow tarsomeres by the characteristic shape of the aedeagus. The larvae have been reared from a wide range of deciduous trees amongst which oak (Quercus spp.) is perhaps the most common larval substrate. - Hungary: Somló, 25.V.1978, leg. KASPER, 1 male. Earomyia spp. - See the note under E. crystallophila below.
