Anterior part of scutellum with two brown or blackish lateral markings and a triangular one at apex (Fig. 2). Caudal marking of scutellum often lighter than markings of head and pronotum, rarely especially light, with an orange tinge. In P. phragmitis all patches are orange, hind border of pronotum with four distinct markings (Fig. 1). Veins of the fore wings mostly light, cells and some veins covered with dark, fuscous pattern. Colouration of the fore part of the body and the wings show a variation of some extent, but this is not sex-linked. Wings of P. phragmitis are mainly straw-coloured. Caudal margin of 7th abdominal sternum of females with an incision in the middle third (Fig. 4). In P. phragmitis 7th abdominal sternum with a rounded projection at the same place (Fig. 3). Shaft of aedeagus situated on posterior half of socle. Ventral side of apex distinctly bent. Dorsal side with a thin, edge-like area behind apex (Fig. 10), more or less pronounced in different individuals. Apex narrowing posteriorly from dorsal view (Fig. 12). In P. phragmitis ventral side of apex only slightly bent, dorsally without an edge-like part (Fig. 9). Apex widening posteriorly from dorsal view (Fig. 11). Figs 7-12. Paralimnus phragmitis (BOHEMAN, 1847): 7 = left genital style, 9 = aedeagus (lateral view), 11 = aedeagus (dorsal view). Paralimnus lugens (HORVÁTH, 1897): 8 = left genital style, 10 = aedeagus (lateral view), 12 = aedeagus (dorsal view). Scale = 0.1mm
