Cosmotriche lunigera (Esper, 1784), new to Hungary (Lepidoptera: Lasiocampidae) Cs. SZABÓKY 1 & GY. With one figure. Key words - Cosmotriche lunigera, Lasiocampidae, Hungary. On 11th June, 1991, a male specimen (Fig. 1 ) of Cosmotriche lunigera (ESPER, 1784) was collected at light by GYÖRGY KUTASSY in Királyrét, Börzsöny Mountains, northern Hungary. The collecting apparatus with a 125 W mercury-vapour light was set up at the Szénpataki-turistaház (tourists' lodge), surrounded by old trees of Norway spruce (Picea abies). The moth arrived at about 10.00 p.m. This species is widely distributed in the conifer belt of the Palaearctic. In the neighbouring countries it is known from the conifer zone of the Alps and the Carpathians (Austria, Slovakia, Romania). Its food plants are Picea abies, Abies alba and Pinns sylvestris. Apart from the westernmost corners of Hungary, these trees are not indigenous in our mountainous regions, but are widely planted for timber and firewood. As it is well known, a number of insect species have followed their food plants, and now they breed in a lot of localities where conifer plantations occur. This species is new to the fauna of Hungary. VOJNITS et al. ( 1991: 233) mentioned it in brackets, suggesting that the species is known from the Carpathian Basin and is expected to occur in Hungary.
