sp., Opiinae 215 sp., Orgilinae 38 sp., Pambolinae4 sp., Rhyssalinae 6 sp., Rogadinae 51 sp., Sigalphinae 2 sp. The 29 braconid subfamilies comprises a total of 1798 species in Hungary. The family-group names were adopted mainly after WHARTON & VAN ACHTERBERG (2000). The present number (1783) of the braconid species living and established in Hungary is not considered as a final one. Refining the collecting methods by applying automatic and semiautomatic devices as well as intensively extending the rearings of the braconids from their manifold hosts will essentially increase their number in our country. On the basis of our present knowledge, considering the quantitative and qualitative composition of the European braconid fauna, about 2000 to 2200 species may be forecast as the real number of braconids occurring in Hungary. The aphidiid species are considered as forming an independent family under the name Aphidiidae following MACKAUER & STARY (1967) and TOBIAS & KlRIYAK (1986). The faunistic contributors of the braconids of Hungary are registered and denominated as authors of their publications in the References (p. 178) and Literature (p. 180) of the present paper. Nevertheless, the most significant and active collectors of the Hungarian braconids are mentioned very dispersely in the enormously large number of the papers in question. Herewith they are listed and we express our gratitude for their tiresome collecting work: E. BAJÁRI (Mrs), L. BIRÓ, J. ERDŐS, J. GYŐRFI, J. GYŐRFFY, G. HORVÁTH, Z. KASZAB, L. MÉHELY, O. MERKL, F.
