Leptophlebia vespertina (Linnaeus, 1758) was reported by Újhelyi (1959) for the first time from the Bakony Mountains (without precise locality data). Then, in 1966, he mentioned it from "Cuha-valley, Mts Bakony", with a note that the voucher specimens had been lost (destroyed). Later, during the faunistic exploration of the Bakony Mountains another species, Leptophlebia marginata was collected in the Cuha Valley (Újhelyi 1979). RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Based on previously published records the checklist for Hungary presented in this paper includes 91 taxa of Ephemeroptera. Additional records of another two taxa {Ecdyonurus helveticus, E.fluminum) are based on doubtful identification only. Six taxa listed previously by Tóth ( 1992Z?) have been recorded from localities outside the present Hungarian territory {Siphlonurus alternatus, Rhithrogena hybrida, Ecdyonurus macani, Electrogena quadrilineata, Behningia ulmeri and Palingenia fuliginosa) . Records of another four species {Ecdyonurus forcipula, Epeorus alpicola, Rhithrogena ferruginea and Leptophlebia vespertina) are based on insufficient evidence or dubious names. Although no confirmed records exist, at least three of the 12 taxa listed above may still occur in Hungary {Siphlonurus alternatus, Ecdyonurus macani, Leptophlebia vespertina). Furthermore some additional taxa (known presently to occur near the Hungarian borders) are expected to be found in the future.
