Diagnosis - Medium sized to large species of light brown to blackish body. Male resembles 77. (S.) saltator and 77. (S.) brevis in having massive sternite IX, not incised medially and set with bristles along distal margin, gonostyles without mesobasal tubercles and stout basal apodemes of aedeagus; can be distinguished from both of these species by low, regularly rounded gonocoxal bridge and vein Sc densely setate. Female with slender, almost straight ovipositor up to 1.3 times longer than genital segment; setulose area distinctly delimited and almost flat; fork of genital plate semicircular, with strengthened tips; supragenital pate with two bristles. Etymology - A new species name is dedicated to Prof. László Papp (HNHM), a world-famed dipterologist; also a collector of the majority of Trichoceridae described from Hungary. Description - Body size 5-7 mm, wing size 5.5-7.5 mm. Body color usually dark brown to black; some specimens are light brown; pleura moderately pruinose and without bristles. Antennae (Fig. 6): fl 1.1-1.5 times longer than f2 and 2-3 times longer than pedicel; flagellomeres covered with rather scarce, sharp pubescence; distal bristles not much longer or stronger. Wing: Sc with rather dense setae, usually a short section distal to sc-r is bare or with only few setae; R24-34-4 a little shorter than or equal R3+4; discal cell usually broad, in some specimens (Fig. 5) almost as broad as that of 77. (S.) rufescens Edwards, 1921, and with similarly long bMl+2; A2 bare, remarkably variable, from very close and parallel to wing margin to detracted, with sharp curve toward wing margin. Legs: t5 longer than half t4 in fore, mid and hind legs, male tarsal claw not longer than 1/3 of t5. Male (Figs 1-6): Sternite IX massive, without medial excision, or even with slight medial elevation (Fig. 1), its outer margin set with long setae reaching gonocoxal bridge (their full length is to be estimated only when genitalia are lit
